We are Home!!

Thank you all for your prayers!! We finally got home on Thursday!! It was a long and hard week for us but we are all home and are thankful for that.

Maddie is wonderful and was once again very brave and did not cry and went with the loving nurses and doctors. Her tummy was hungry since the surgery did not start until 3pm and she could not eat food after midnight but she made it with out to much complaining. The surgery lasted about 3 1/2 hours and we finally got to see her around 7:45. and was on our way home around 9:30 that evening. The doctor had told us that he had a room for us but we wanted to take her home since last time she did so well, Big mistake on our part. We got home and around 4:30am we lost the battle with trying to control her pain with Hydrocodone and were headed back down to the hospital. Poor little girl was in so much pain and we could not stop it. Once we finally got there they split open the cast because they thought that it was to tight and her thumb was really swollen so they needed to release it and they started her on Morphine drip. Tuesday night was really hard, still was in so much pain but finally around Wed morning we think the drugs started to work. She then had some problems with her breathing and was put on oxygen to bring her levels back up. With 2 days of Morphine we were able to try and do the Hydrocodone and Motrin combo and it seemed to work last night so this morning her oxygen was better and being off of Morphine they let us go home. Wow what a week we all have had!! Just so glad to be home and be able to take care of her at home. She is cranky and in pain but doing better! :o)

Back to what the doctors did. They opened the bone's in both the middle and index fingers and took out the bone growth, each finger has 3 places where the bone can grow. Then they put a pin in each finger to keep it straight and also cut the tendon at each finger tip to help the finger to not curve backwards and hopefully just relax and curve downward. They put another cast on and it will come off Dec 28Th to take out the pins and hopefully be healed enough to not have another cast put back on. We think that the cast was too tight and that was also causing her too much pain so they split it open to give her some relief and we will go back down there next week to have it tighten back up.

Once again we are so glad to be home and Thank You for all your prayers!! God is Good!!
